The Maria Luisa Ortiz Women’s Center is part of a non-profit women’s co-op established in 1990 by local community members trying to provide better health care for themselves and their children. It serves an area of approximately 30,000 people in the region who have little or no access to routine health care. The emphasis is on prenatal care, family planning services, cervical cancer screening, and child health and nutrition
programs.
